Microneedling

Microneedling

Microneedling (also known as skin needling or collagen induction therapy) is a type of treatment that uses small needles to cause tiny punctures in the skin. These contact points encourage the body to create a wound-healing response and renew cells. As your skin repairs, the production of collagen and elastin is triggered to give an almost immediate plumping effect that can help to tackle concerns such as scarring, dark marks, sun damage, and aging. The treatment triggers a release of serum growth factors, which stimulate the breakdown of old fibrous collagen and promote new collagen and elastin development. Microneedling is therefore used to help with skin lifting and rejuvenation, acne scars, and wound healing, improving wrinkles and fine lines, minimising pore size, and reducing stretch marks.

A mesotherapy solution (a special cocktail of nutrients such as hyaluronic acid, vitamins, minerals, and amino acids) can also be added to significantly boost the appearance of your complexion. For best results, at least three sessions are recommended, but each case is individual and depends on the quality of your skin and the level of damage. An additional at-home skincare regime is highly recommended to achieve the most successful outcome.

Benefits of Microneedling

Microneedling is most commonly used to treat the following conditions:

Dullness: rejuvenate tired and dreary skin and combat the initial signs of aging.

Wrinkles: fine lines on the face can be visibly reduced, as micro-needling triggers collagen production.

Scarring: welts from acne or Chicken Pox can be improved and an uneven texture smoothed.

Pigmentation: this can help to fade brown patches and discoloration due to sun damage or aging.

Peels

Peel consists of naturally occurring acids and active ingredients to deeply exfoliate and brighten the skin. Treatments stimulate new cell growth and collagen production, helping to reveal fresher, clearer, and brighter skin.

Modern peels mean minimal downtime although stronger ones can lead to mild flaking after a few days of application or full facial shedding.

A course of peels combined with professional home skin care can give the following results.

• A lighter and brighter complexion

• A reduction in acne severity and melasma

• An improvement in the overall texture of the skin

• Removal and reduction of sun damage and age spots

• Eliminated hyperpigmentation and reduced acne scaring

• A reduction in pore size and softening of fine lines and wrinkles

• Stimulation of the production of collagen, resulting in firmer skin

• A slower ageing process and prevention of wrinkles

At JJ Aesthetics I stock a  range of medical-grade skincare products  that can be used daily to promote and maintain a healthy complexion, but also treat a number of concerns such as aging, acne, rosacea, and pigmentation

One of the most important but simple things you can do to improve the quality of your complexion is to invest in a daily medical skincare regime. There is often a lot of confusion as to what constitutes a “good skincare regime”, but essentially products that are bought over the counter do not penetrate the dermal-epidermal junction and typically only address surface symptoms, without improving at a cellular level.
